A Luxurious Welcome
From the moment we were picked up from the airport, The Amala’s unrivalled hospitality became evident; cold face clothes, green tea and bottled water were dished out in the transfer car, with glossy magazines and a plethora of phone charges proffered. On arrival at the resort’s tranquil setting we were offered a welcome drink before being shown to the spa where we were treated to a cooling half hour leg massage; a total luxury in the morning humidity. Despite it being a number of hours before check-in, we were then shown to our poolside villa; where we immediately made the decision to spend as little time outside the hotel as possible during our stay.
Our Poolside Villa
Both sumptuous and stylish, the villa spanned two floors, and featured a private pool, open lounge and kitchen, an airy bedroom complete with four-poster bed, leading to a sun-drenched patio and a stand alone bath. The fridge was stocked with free homemade cookies and a selection of drinks, and no sooner had we settled by the pool than chocolate, marshmallow and strawberry skewers were delivered to our villa; a welcome treat indeed. The pool was the ideal size for a leisurely swim, and the outdoor loungers were ideally positioned for catching some rays. After a lazy afternoon doing just that, we made our way back to the spa at dusk for an indulgent massage.
The Amala Spa
By nightfall, the retreat is bathed in candlelight; with the tranquil vibe offering a peaceful backdrop to the spa’s soothing nature. The treatment began with a rose petal foot bath and lasted well over the anticipated hour as the therapists expertly relieved the stresses and strains ingrained in the nuts and bolts of our bodies. By the time we returned to our villa, the curtains had been drawn, the bed turned down and mosquito coils lit ready for what was undeniably one of the best night’s sleep of my life, in the crème de la crème of beds.
A Health Conscious Menu
As per our promise to spend as little time outside of our villa as possible, we asked to have breakfast in our room, and the staff generously obliged. Whether you’re after a tasty treat or something savoury to start your day with, The Amala will have you covered.
With a mouth-watering menu offering an array of both hot and cold dishes that will satiate all manners of appetites, The Amala’s bountiful breakfast caters for everyone. From colourful smoothie bowls, to avocado bruschetta, to Indonesian staples and an indulgent cooked breakfast, guests have a wealth of options to choose from, although the hotel does specialise in delicious raw food. Not wanting to go without, we sampled a number of dishes, and can happily vouch that they all live up to the standard you would expect for somewhere like The Amala. Try the green smoothie bowl if you’re in the mood for something healthy and for something more substantial, the oats with honey are a delicious choice for some early morning fuel.
A Wellness Oasis
Guests are offered twice daily yoga and Pilates classes during the week, held in the tranquil Wellness Studio and The Amala, Seminyak, Bali. The ultimate way to stay in-tune with one’s body while away from home, the classes take place every morning and evening; offering either an energising start to the day, or the ideal way to wind down in the evening. For those looking for a complete wellness retreat during their stay, The Amala can design bespoke packages utilising Asian and Western modalities to cater to each guests’ individual needs.
If you’re looking for a luxurious and relaxing stay in Seminyak, The Amala could be the hotel for you. From the small touches such as the filtered water fountain in each of the villas and the toiletry treats in the bathroom, to the daily home-made cookies and fresh fruit delivered to your door, obliging and amiable staff and a soothing spa that leaves you relaxed and refreshed, it really is the epitome of a lifestyle retreat. A zen-like escape from Seminyak’s happening hub, The Amala is an oasis of calm that achieves the perfect balance of sophistication and style.
