Whether you fly the Paleo, vegan, vegetarian or Flexitarian flags or you simply like to maintain your healthy eating habits while on holiday, Bali is an easy destination to keep your palate clean. For a destination that is often publicised as a party town, it’s gaining some well-deserved recognition as a hub for foodies and fitness enthusiasts alike. With the number of yoga studios, luxury villa retreats and conscious cafes climbing, consider Bali a place you can dial down, not just party it up. This Bali Healthy Eating Guide is full of places where you can find delicious and nutritious healthy fare during your stay in Bali.
I have included a few personal favourites below and recently updated the list thanks to some tips from Bali local and friend Fiona Peters. These really are just a small part of Bali’s clean eating map. If you’re travelling with friends or a partner who is looking to indulge never fear; most menus also cater to their tastes with everything from Indonesian staples like Nasi Goring (a traditional fried rice dish) to naughty basics like burgers and ribs.

Sisterfields Cafe brings in the crowds with its great coffee, fresh juices, coconuts and smoothies. Whenever I wander into the cafe near Seminyak Square, I feel like I’m stepping into a Bondi local. If you’re tired of the hotel breakfast buffet, a Sisterfields Acai Bowl, Homemade Bircher or Smashed Avocado might be the reprieve you’re hoping for. For lunch, freshly made, allergy friendly salads power out from the kitchen for the health nuts alongside the famed Pulled Pork Charcoal Roll and Dirty Burger. Thirsty? Grab a young coconut, green smoothie or fresh juice. Open daily.

Grocer & Grind | Jl. Kayu Jati No.3x Petitenget, Seminyak, Bali
Back in the old Bali days (almost a decade ago), Grocer & Grind was like an oasis in the Seminyak dining desert. When you were weary of eating heavy bowls of fried rice and noodles at a local warung, Grocer & Grind was waiting with a strong espresso and a delicious plate of fresh eggs piled high. It continues to play to those strengths today. For a good morning brew, a protein shake, a gourmet sandwich or generous salad, the old favourite is a great pick. They also have a small deli section where you can pick up anything you may be missing from home, like gluten-free muesli or even a bottle of wine. Even better these days too, they deliver.
Earth Cafe | Jl. Lesmana/Oberoi No. 99, Seminyak, Bali
We’ve mentioned our fondness for Earth Cafe in Ubud in our Ubud guide, but they also have a sister cafe in Seminyak. We dropped in for a late lunch and tried the Lentil and Red Quinoa Salad, Sizzling Chicken with Coriander and Quinoa and a couple of amazingly fresh soft tacos from the taco bar. Open daily.

Book online if you are heading for dinner with a group. Open daily.

Watercress Cafe | Jalan Batu Belig 21a, Kerobokan, Bali
Watercress Cafe is away from the Seminyak cafe strip and that’s part of its appeal. Stepping off the often busy Batu Belig, life’s pace slows a little at Watercress. It feels wholesome and organic, like the food they dish up. Wooden tables are positioned to take in the back garden – home to their own organic vegetables. The breakfast menu is vast with every taste satisfied. If you’re hungry, wait until lunch and you can enjoy a smorgasbord of organic goodness with the Watercress Lunch Showcase.
