Akyra Beach Club Phuket is one of four, five-star Akyra Destinations in Thailand; there is one property in Chiang Mai, two properties in Bangkok and the Phuket property which is the newest addition to the group. The beachfront property hosts 58 rooms, suites and villas with clean, modern and classic design and a crisp blue and white theme that is the perfect juxtaposition to the pastel sunsets and tropical surroundings.

My Seaview Villa was a glass house with a pool and beach view out of every front window; I watch the sunrise from my bed each morning which was extra luxurious. The king-size bed was the centerpiece of the space with a modern, tiled bathroom including a full shower and bathtub for rinsing and relaxing after days on the beach.

I loved the wooden turtle left in every room by housekeeping which signified that you were requesting privacy if you placed it right outside your door, and the private hammock on the terrace of my villa which was surrounded by green tropical plants and provided a quiet, private place for an afternoon nap or to watch the sunset while sipping a fresh coconut.

The Seaview Villas surround the pool at Akyra Beach Club and are located on the main level of the property, you have the entire property and all of its amenities just a few footsteps from your door.

Dining at Akyra Beach Club
I enjoyed most meals at The Upper Deck, the al fresco dining option on the property. The breakfast buffet, included with the room, included an abundance of choices from fresh fruit and vegetables, an egg station, pastries, salad making station and even traditional Thai desserts. My table on the outside deck provided a front row seat to the ocean with a table tucked close by one of the property’s spirit houses (a mini house and alter built for good luck and safe keeping, a Thai tradition).

At dinnertime I feasted on traditional Thai cuisine including Green Curry, Mango Salad and Vegetable Fried Rice. The chef was very happy to accommodate my vegetarian diet and even stopped by my table to ask me how everything was.

Guests can also enjoy the Off Side Sports Bar and a very special ice cream boutique on property; the ice cream boutique is open daily from 10am until 6pm and serves the most delicious, fresh Italian ice cream. I loved the Kiwi and Coconut flavors and the Green Tea ice cream was delicious too!

Be Sporty, Be Inspired, Be Curious
When guests arrive they are treated to an overview of the activities available on property while they stay at Akyra. Broken into three categories: Be Sporty, Be Inspired, and Be Curious, there are many activities ranging from beach volleyball, all water sports and a private Muay Thai lesson to visiting the local Thai farmer’s market with the chef and taking a cooking lesson.

The White Party Sunset gatherings happen on the beach every last Friday of each month and I happened to arrive on this day. The beach is transformed to welcome guests to a sunset party with special cocktails (wear white and get yours free from 6pm until 7pm), a local DJ, a special fire show and an outdoor buffet with cooking stations and local specialties as well as freshly caught fish and Thai dishes. It was the perfect welcome to my stay.
I enjoyed a Muay Thai lesson on the beach and visited the farmer’s market during my stay, both were a beautiful expression of the local culture and added to my experience.

The Ayurah Spa
The Ayurah Spa is the healing spot on property, with many indulgent and therapeutic treatments available. I loved that I could choose to have my Thai Massage inside or on the beach, and it was the perfect way to find time to relax. I also enjoyed the signature Chakra Revitalising Massage which was a beautiful massage intended to help align the energy points or chakras in your body. There is a full menu of services including Balinese, Thai, Aromatherapy, Reflexology, Swedish and more massage. Whether you are looking for alignment and/or healing or to just relax, the spa has an ample selection of offerings for you to find many things you love.

Exploring Natai Beach and Phang Nga Bay
There are several opportunities to explore the local area while stay at Akyra, and the staff can help you to arrange various day trips and/or adventures. If hiking is on your agenda, Samet Nangshe is one of the most beautiful regions on Phuket with an epic viewpoint worth seeing. If you are or someone in your group is an angler and you want to fish like and with the locals you are in luck because there is a sunset fishing trip off of the Natai Pier that you can arrange to join.

As the property is situated close to Phang Nga Bay you can arrange to take an Island Hopping Boat Trip to visit the incredible islands and beaches that dot this area so epically. I arranged to take this trip one day during my visit and spent the day with a couple staying at the property and our guide on a private tour of James Bond Island, Rang Yai Island and swimming and kayaking in and out of remote, pristine and incredible areas along the way. I will never forget this day and I highly encourage you to arrange for this adventure during your stay on Phuket at Akyra. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable about the area, and super accommodating for extra stops, questions, photographs and extra time. We sipped freshly opened coconuts and swam off the boat near our very own private beach in water that was crystal clear and perfectly refreshing, it was truly paradise in every way.
