Adrien sounds like a really cool guy. Who doesn’t want to retire at 45? A barge tour sounds like a perfect way to see the French countryside. I would love taking the bikes out and exploring the towns along the way. I love Paris, but I love the countryside more. What a wonderful way to explore.

I’ve never heard about these barges before but they sound very intriguing. I think it would be a great way to see France and the countryside. They really have a lot of things to do and I would certainly appreciate the organic and locally sourced food.

The Savannah looks like a wonderful Barge to relax and get away from the monotony of urban life. The facilities seem excellent and the fact that food is made from organic ingredients sourced locally and everything is fresh is a bonus. The pictures bring out the life on the barge and the serene beauty of the canal and the vicinity so well. I love the fact that there are activities also outside of the Barge. The Vintage car ride sounds like real fun.

I just love it! The deck and the lounge chairs, the Salon, the bedroom, the bath…everything is so appealing. Its amazing how you can make use of small spaces! How many people were there on board?

What a fantastic way to explore the French waterways! It has been years since I was on a barge (it’s a mandatory school trip when you’re from the north of England and they teach you all about the lock system!) – however this looks like an totally different experience. It’s so luxurious and I love that you can get involved with with market visits and cooking.

I’ve actually wanted to do this kind of trip for many years, not least because my husband and I adore France (and I speak not-quite-as-fluent-as-it-once-was French) but also because it seems such a gentle and relaxed way of holidaying. One thing that used to put me off was the accommodation, many of the barges seem to offer tiny cabins with such small doubles that they are barely worthy of the name, whereas the Savannah’s king size room with full bathroom looks just the ticket. The food is a huge draw for me in France, and it does indeed look like this trip should be billed as a gastronomic adventure. Love the look of all areas of the barge, that salon is particularly lovely. I particularly like the genuine all-inclusive nature of the pricing, which makes it much easier to budget for this kind of trip. Am bookmarking your post for future reference!

woaah I miss the south! Kerry your pictures transported me there instantly and memories came back. I miss the good olives but luckily I got my savon du midi (my mum just sent me a few soap bars!!) The midi is like the ultimate holiday destination for any French families in July and august, without exception! I know my mother would go crazy for such a channel boat ride, she loves to take it easy and to enjoy the surrounding while cruising down the water lane. 🙂

I just recently discovered I like cruising: I’ve always been worried I’d be sick on a boat! And in stead it’s a beautiful experience. I have been cruising canals in the Netherlands so I’d really love to cruise on the Savannah, what an adventure!
